Towards Zero Net Emissions – a regional approach
A Forum for Local Government, Greenhouse Alliances and their partners.
Towards Zero Net Emissions for the NAGA Region (TZNE) responds to the urgent need to reduce greenhouse emissions by providing for the first time in Australia, a comprehensive and evidence-based regional direction for carbon mitigation to 2020.
Towards Zero Net Emissions builds on existing collaboration, outlines a clear role for councils with benefits for all members from a relatively small investment.
The Northern Alliance for Greenhouse Action (NAGA) comprises 9 councils in the northern metropolitan area of Melbourne and the Moreland Energy Foundation. Together they represent approximately 25% of Melbourne's population.
Hosted by Manningham City Council CEO Ms Lydia Wilson and facilitated by Cr Janet Bolitho from City of Port Phillip and Local Sustainability Accord Mk1 , NAGA's project team and consultants Arup will outline the pathway Towards Zero Net Emissions for the NAGA Region.

Towards Zero Net Emissions for the NAGA region is supported by the Victorian Local Sustainability Accord. This is the first of two forums to share the findings and explore regional approaches. A second forum will be held in Bendigo on July 23rd in partnership with the Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance.
NAGA's members are the Cities of Banyule, Darebin, Hume, Manningham, Melbourne, Moreland, Whittlesea, Yarra, Nillumbik Shire Council and the Moreland Energy Foundation Limited (MEFL).
